Why EmpGrid

Why teams choose EmpGrid.

Not another tool to bolt on. The one place a team's working day adds up.

Time, attendance, leave, projects and reports share one dashboard. Activity is measured from input counts, never from what people type, and every employee can see their own data.

  • One platform
  • Counts, not content
  • Three-step setup
  • Self-updating agent
  • My Dashboard
  • My Screenshots
  • Free to start

Prologue — Why we built it

Most tracking tools are too invasive, too scattered or too complicated. We built EmpGrid to be none of the three.

Chapter 01 — One platform

One login, one dashboard, one record of the day.

One platform instead of five tools

A timer here, an attendance sheet there, leave in an inbox and projects somewhere else. EmpGrid puts them side by side, so the hours on a timesheet, the day on the attendance calendar and the leave that explains a gap all come from the same place.

  • Time tracking against projects and tasks
  • Clock in and out, with an attendance calendar
  • Leave requests, reviews and holidays
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reports, export to CSV or print to PDF

Chapter 02 — Privacy by design

We count the work. We never read it.

Counts, not content

The desktop agent counts keystrokes, clicks and mouse movement and rolls them into 10-minute activity windows. It notes which app and window title are in focus and how long the computer sits idle. It never records which keys were pressed, the text people type or their passwords.

  • Input counted, never logged key by key
  • Screenshots only during tracked sessions
  • Capture starts and stops with Start/Stop Tracking in the Windows app

How EmpGrid handles data

Chapter 03 — Fast setup

No servers to set up, no consultants, no long rollout.

From sign-up to tracked time in three steps

Create a workspace in the browser, add your employees from the dashboard, and have them sign in to the Windows desktop app with the account you created. Projects, departments and work schedules can come later.

  • Sign up without a credit card
  • Employees are added by the admin, not invited to pay
  • Starter is free for up to 3 employees
  1. 01

    Create a workspace

Sign up at monitor.empgrid.app with your organization name and your own admin login.

  2. 02

    Add your team

Add employees from the dashboard and give each of them a login.

  3. 03

    Install the agent

Employees install the Windows app, sign in and start tracking.

Chapter 04 — The desktop agent

Install it once. It keeps itself current.

A Windows agent that updates itself

The EmpGrid desktop app is a native Windows application, not a browser extension. It checks for new versions on its own, downloads an update with one click and installs it when the app restarts, so nobody has to reinstall to stay current.

  • Starts with Windows (can be switched off) and sits in the system tray
  • Clock in and out, and start or stop tracking, from the app
  • Activity and screenshots queue locally and are retried

Chapter 05 — Transparent for employees

Your hours, your activity, your screenshots. Visible to you too.

Employees see their own data

Monitoring works best when nobody is guessing. Every employee gets My Dashboard, with their own hours, this week's timesheet and today's attendance, and My Screenshots, with each of their own screenshots and its activity % and app name.

  • My Dashboard: personal hours, timesheet and attendance
  • My Screenshots: the captures from their own tracked sessions
  • Tracking is visible in the desktop app and the system tray

The difference — Side by side

Spreadsheets and separate tools, or one grid

What changes when the pieces of a working day stop living in different places.

Spreadsheets and separate tools compared with EmpGrid
Part of the day Spreadsheets + separate tools EmpGrid
Hours Typed into a sheet after the fact Tracked from the desktop app or the web timer; web-timer sessions can be logged against projects and tasks
Attendance A separate sheet or app to reconcile Clock in and out from the app, with an attendance calendar
Leave Requests scattered across email and chat Leave requests and reviews in the same dashboard
Activity No signal, or tools that log far more than they need Input counts in 10-minute windows, never typed content
Screenshots Yet another tool, often running all the time Only during tracked sessions
Reports Stitched together from several exports Daily, weekly and monthly reports, export to CSV or print to PDF
Employee view People rarely see what is kept about them My Dashboard and My Screenshots for every employee
Upkeep A login and an update cycle per tool One login, and an agent that updates itself
